couldnt sleep last night so i stayed up to finish
郎朗's autobio( finally!). he's really the best evidence to prove that you reap what you sow. at least six hours of piano a day (that's what i do for a week!)! but i've to admit he's the perfect combination of talent+hard work. he knows what he' playing when he practises. he understands tchaikovsky's romantic sad mood, rachmaninoff's tricky pieces...and he has been through obstacles. like having to leave his mum when he was just a child and moving from Shenyang to Beijing so that he can find a better music teacher. father and son had to squeeze in a tiny apartment when they got there. and trying to crush his fingers against the wall just because his dad suddenly went crazy- really crazy, he asked hin to jump off the building-because langlang didnt seem to listen to his teacher's instructions.
being one of the greatest pianists in the world at the present age of 26, his life's not totally about piano either. to him,
“生命中没有钢琴也是可以继续的”. he made an effort to instill in kids and interest for music. his collaboration with the company of Steinway pianos resulted in the "Langlang Piano" where a small whiteboard is attached to the piano to enable kids to draw or scribble their ideas. he has been to AIDS villages and is currently an ambassador of the UN.
i just hope to gain some motivation from him. when he described the pieces that he plays, i dont know them but i can feel as if the music is flowing in my mind. it's like having a master's class from the book. after reading i think i understand my black and white keys better:)
